When designing this bed Pascal Mourgue's twin concerns were for rigour of line and softness of comfort. Since it can take any type of slatted base or mattress, its sleep comfort can be adapted to the wishes of the individual customer. The adjustable headrest (headboard with storage) makes an equally significant contribution in terms of comfort, allowing the user to read or watch television from the comfort of his or her own bed. Pascal Mourgue quite intentionally gave his bed an asymmetrical appearance, giving it one narrow (6'') and one wide (12'') side panel. These may be positioned to the right or left when viewed from the foot of the bed, with the position of the wide side panel determining whether the bed is designated 'left' or 'right'. The foot panel (D 6'') adds another asymmetrical note, since its total width does not extend across the length of the wide side panel (see above drawings). As an option this bed is also available with two narrow side panels, thus reducing the total surface area; to fit in with the foot panel these will of necessity be of differing lengths, with the longer narrow panel always being on the right-hand side. The adjustable headrest (headboard with storage) consists of two asymmetrical sections so that the join will fall in the centre of the sleep area. The storage chests beneath the headrest may be illuminated (ultra compact fluorescent) if desired, with the light being triggered by the raising of the headrest. A fixed headboard is also available (i.e. without adjustable headrest).
