P Mourgue wanted to present a mixture of colors and textures on the same settee. Sofas are becoming increasingly versatile, capable of adapting themselves to accommodate a number of friends, either sprawling or cuddling up. All such situations are compatible with just one settee of variable geometry.

CONSTRUCTION & COMFORT
Each sofa brings together 4 different types of element:

BASES: designed to accommodate the seats, these are made from panels of particleboard clad in polyether foam (28 kg/m3 - 3.0 kPa) and can be low and completely flat, or with one raised section; the latter can be viewed as both armrest and seat, although it should be noted that this will be firmer than the stitched seats described below.
SEATS: structure in panels with biconic springs and high resilience polyurethane Bultex foam (30 kg/m3 - 3.0 kPa) with a feather-filled 'comfort' layer (10% feathers/90% down). Seats can cover the whole base, or just a part; an alternative version is also available which overhangs the seat and rests partly on the floor, thus allowing it to pivot perpendicular to the base to form a one-arm sofa. An 'overhanging seat' is available in length 78 3/4'', allowing it to be used as a single bed (see configuration 14).
BACKS: these are attached to the bases, to complete the base + seat assembly; they are equipped with webbing (plus a steel-sprung metal mesh in the case of the 2 greatest widths) and are clad in high resilience polyurethane Bultex foam (26 kg/m³ - 1.4 kPa) and 200g/m2 polyester quilting. Delivered separately, they can be easily assembled on-site since each base comes with inserts covering all possible positions; elements are not specifically designated 'left' or 'right', but backs can be positioned to one side or the other at the time of installation, in accordance with the customer's wishes.
CUSHIONS: 2 types of cushion - a feather-filled (10% feathers/90% down) pillow-style cushion in size 23 1/2'' x 23 1/2'', which augments the comfort offered by the back ; and a plane-parallel arm cushion in high resilience polyurethane Bultex foam (38 kg/m³ - 3.6 kPa), designed to be positioned on the raised section of the base and which is always matched to the color/fabric used on the base.

UPHOLSTERY
In the case of the 10 fabric/color combinations the seat features needlepoint stitching matched to the color of the base: in the case of monocolor interpretations this is in toning stitching. For versions in leather the needlepoint stitching is replaced by simple, toning stitching.
